Welcome to the Only Conservative Synagogue on the Grand Strand
Welcome to the Only Conservative Synagogue on the Grand Strand
Join us for our inspiring and meaningful High Holy Day services. Led by our talented and inspirational rabbi, these services are a powerful way to usher in the New Year and stay connected with your Jewish heritage.
There is no ticket requirement. Members and visitors are invited to make voluntary contributions, thereby helping us keep our doors open and continue to meet the spiritual needs of the Jewish community all year round.
In our worship services, we follow a Conservative prayer book. At the same time, we are an inclusive, egalitarian congregation, welcoming Jewish persons from all walks of life and every Jewish background. Our arms are open to those Jews previously unaffiliated and to our members' non-Jewish spouses, should they care to join. Here, there is warmth and enrichment for all. Temple Emanu-El has proudly served the Jewish community of the Grand Strand and beyond for more than 60 years.
Under the leadership of our beloved Rabbi Avi Perets, we cover the broad spectrum of Jewish life with religious, educational, and social activities for adults and children. The Sisterhood and Brotherhood, by their strength and devotion, sponsor a variety of functions for fundraising and camaraderie during the year.
Our vibrant congregation includes Full members and Associates. Associate members make Temple Emanu-El their shul-away-from-home during vacations and visits.
For more information about membership, please contact us.
A group of inspired Jewish citizens formed the Temple Emanu-El Congregation in 1963 when Myrtle Beach was but a small southern coastal town. Then, in 1969 they built our present sanctuary, which was expanded in 1990. This was followed in 2002 by construction of the Rosen Education Center.
As Myrtle Beach grew, so did Temple Emanu-El.
Offices and Social Hall
The Rosen Education Center serves as the venue for Temple offices, the Religious School, Adult Education, and many large events, including weekly kiddushes, holiday parties, game nights, Auxiliary functions, mah-jongg tournaments, and more.
Religious School and Adult Classes
Fulfilling the need for our children’s Jewish education are weekly lessons in Hebrew reading and prayers, along with our People’s history, culture, values, and observances. Rabbi Avi takes over at the proper time for Bar/Bat Mitzvah instruction.
Additionally, Rabbi offers weekly adult classes, which include Modern Hebrew and Judaica, the latter featuring Jewish current events, teachings, and traditions with the opportunity for lively discussion.
Office hours are Monday-Friday
9:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m.
These hours may be irregular, so please call before visiting.
